Jason Tavares is now the new AGSEM delegate for the Chemical Engineering department.  He is taking over from longtime delegate Andrew Carkner.

As you may or may not know, all TAs employed at McGill are represented by a union called the AGSEM (Association of Graduate Students Employed at McGill). Every department has a delegate that attends the union council meetings and who acts as a resource-person for TA-related issues (comments, questions, grievances).

AGSEM is currently in the process of negotiating a collective agreement with the University. At this point,
the negotiations are not going particularly well. There will be a symbolic (15-25 people) demonstration at Roddick Gates on Monday, January 14th to increase the visibility of the AGSEM to the student body. A general assembly should be held in the following weeks to further update you on the bargaining committee's progress and to discuss pressure tactics, if necessary.
